AMVIC investigators out of the Stockton office served search warrants on a Turlock RV dealer this week, looking into allegations that it may have been collecting fraudulent fees from some of its customers.
According to Turlock Journal article, "several complaints were lodged against the dealership [Best RV] by customers who were charged $750 under the guise of a California inspection fee."
There's just one problem. "No such fee exists," the newspaper quotes DMV spokesman Mike Marando as saying. " 'In our findings, 99.99 percent of dealerships play by the rules, but there are always a few bad players.' Marando advised consumers to closely review their contracts when purchasing any kind of vehicle, especially when it comes to accessories or fees."
The investigation into Best RV is continuing.
